The IDA Georgia Annual Conference—
current trends, practical applications

The flyer for IDA Georgia's 2019 Dimensions of Dyslexia Conference, Illuminating Literacy, promises "You will walk away with practical applications and ready-to-use resources, activities and materials." Lower Division Director Roni Battoglia, an IDA GA Executive Board Member, could not agree more. "The IDA GA conference never disappoints," she says. "Everyone attending will find something of value to increase their knowledge and practice of literacy and learning."

The conference will take place on Saturday, March 16, at Wheeler High School in Marietta, with sessions on over 50 topics offered during the one-day event.

This year the program includes presentations from three Swift School faculty members. Dr. Tiffany Watson, Swift's Curriculum Coordinator, will present From Torment to Triumph: Strategies for Supporting Essay Composition. "Dyslexic students struggle to produce lengthy, academic writing assignments that truly reflect their ability," Watson says. Watson will outline strategies to help students reach their full potential as writers.

Ken Cressman, 5th grade teacher, and Brooke Anderson, PE teacher, will jointly present Academic Brain Breaks on the importance of getting students up and moving during the school day. "Research shows that the more exercise or movement we get each day, the better we learn and the more information we retain," explains Anderson.

Join Swift faculty and staff and other experts on dyslexia at this information-packed event.

Tickets are $95 per person and are available here.
