K-1 Program at Swift School
Are you experiencing uncertainty or concern regarding your child's language-related diagnosis? At Swift School, optimism prevails. Students don't have to wait to fail. From the very first day, intervention takes precedence, with our dedicated teachers guiding students to a path of success in school and in life.
The kindergarten and first grade years are a special time in a student's life. Beginning in 2024-25, Swift School is excited to offer a K-1 program. K-1 is the first formal learning experience, one that will last well into high school and even college. The early years are vital to a student's success.
"At Swift, intervention begins on the very first day, as soon as students walk through the door," stated Mrs. Roni Battoglia, the Lower Division Director. "In public schools, students typically need to demonstrate 12 weeks of failure and undergo data collection to qualify for learning accommodations. Here, we take proactive steps and initiate intervention from the moment they walk through our doors.”
The kindergarten and first grade years are a special time in a student's life. “It's very important for students to begin grasping their identity as learners,” she explained. “While they may not fully comprehend their entire learning profile at this stage of development, they can grasp that they learn in a unique way, and that's perfectly fine. They will begin to recognize the importance of asking for help and advocating for themselves. That skill will take them far.”
Throughout the day, instruction will be delivered utilizing multisensory, direct, and systematic approaches. All students will experience a well-rounded academic and social program. The first grade students will attend exploratory classes in art, music, PE and STEAM, as well as receive instruction in science and social studies.
