Social Studies and Science
Social Studies
Our social studies curriculum empowers students to become informed, engaged citizens through the study of history and diverse cultures. Guided by the Georgia Standards, students explore connections between past and present, develop map skills to understand geographic contexts, and examine their impact on the future. Through hands-on, student-centered learning, students engage in historical inquiry using primary and secondary sources to understand multiple perspectives on events and the actions of historical figures. Students develop critical thinking skills by analyzing evidence and synthesizing information through structured note-taking practices that help them organize and reflect on historical content. Students build academic vocabulary essential for understanding historical concepts and effectively communicating their ideas.
Science
Guided by the Georgia Standards, the science curriculum engages students in actively building knowledge within the disciplines of Life, Physical, and Earth Science. Through multi-sensory investigations, students apply science and engineering practices by asking questions, analyzing sources, and recording results. Students generate evidence-based conclusions and share their ideas about specific phenomena. The curriculum is based on the philosophy that students learn best through experimentation, exploration, and discussion grounded in the fundamentals of the scientific method.
