Swift School Uses Orton-Gillingham

Swift School is a school designed to teach students with dyslexia how they learn best.  Students learn effectively and efficiently because our program uses the Orton-Gillingham Approach to deliver structured literacy lessons, as well as using the principles of the Approach throughout all areas of instruction.

Swift School’s highly trained and experienced teachers set us apart and are the heart of the program. All of Swift’s academic teachers complete Associate Level coursework (70 Hours) in the Orton-Gillingham Approach, and Lower Division faculty are required to pursue Associate Level credentials in the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators (OGA) through completion of a 100-hour supervised practicum. Swift School has a full-time Orton-Gillingham Fellow (OGA) on staff who supervises and supports all OG instruction in both Lower and Middle Divisions as well as oversees all OG training and practicums.

This level of training and supervision demonstrates our commitment to providing the best education for our students with current, evidence-based instruction and techniques.

Swift is immersive

Going to a tutor or being pulled out of class for language is one thing, at Swift language learning is an all-day, totally immersive educational experience.

Swift is positive

At Swift School, the Principles of the Orton-Gillingham Approach are applied across all disciplines creating a completely immersive and multi-sensory  educational experience. It makes for a seamless learning environment that accelerates progress and nurtures those who have been diagnosed with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences.

Swift is transformative

Something occurs after students start at Swift, we call it “The Swift Effect®” Within weeks, students who once disliked school are transformed. Students can't wait to come school because at Swift School they are understood and appreciated for who they are, how they learn, and their rich, untapped talents. Students whose self-esteem suffered, find confidence. Students who could not read, discover the keys to unlock language. School becomes a destination filled with a joy of learning. Parents who were once afraid, become filled with hope.
